February 28, 2025: Bonus Buzz - What Bee’s Ears Are Saying
Did you know that a horse’s ears can move independently? Each ear has 16 muscles, allowing them to rotate nearly 180 degrees! 🔄🐴 It’s one of the many ways horses stay alert to their surroundings—and how they communicate their mood.
🔹 Forward ears = Focused & alert 📍
🔹 Pinned ears = Irritated or giving a warning 🚨
🔹 Relaxed ears = Calm, content, and at ease 😌
🔹 Swiveling ears = Actively listening & processing sounds 👀
Horses rely heavily on their ears, body language, and instincts to communicate—with each other and with us. Learning to “read the ears” helps build stronger trust and connection between human and horse. It’s part of developing that unspoken bond every rider dreams of.
Watch Bee in action and see if you can spot her signals. Is she tuned in? Curious? Giving sass? Let us know what you think she’s saying by dropping a comment below! 🤔🐎⬇️
