Bee had VIP visitors this week — granddaughter Henley, grandson Cullen, daughter Jenna, and husband Jim — all in town from Nashville to surprise Jim for his birthday! Bee soaked up every moment (and every carrot) and even gave Henley a sweet little ride in her stall. Meanwhile, back in the barnyard… the shy mini horses finally decided I was worth saying hello to. Pearl, Shrek, and Jimmy let me stroke their faces this week after a few bribes (aka carrots). Total win. We also welcomed a new mare, Sunny Day, to the front herd. She’s missing her old pasture pals but settling in slowly — and we trust Neville and the minis to help her feel at home soon. This week Bee reminded us that “mare” is both a noun and a verb. At the barn therewas a tale of two Bees: spicy at lessons, kicking and pinning her ears at every horse in sight… and sweet in the aisleway, stopping at Dually’s stall for a quiet little kiss before heading out to pasture. She blames the sass on missing her mom (who was in Michigan), missing her carrots, and missing her hormone meds. I blame it on being a mare — and a queen! Bee also asked me to tell you that I’m working on some fun custom canvas designs, including back-to-school banners and college canvas pieces, and would love to paint for families celebrating their kids heading to class. When I tried to call her to the barn, she avoided me. But when I walked over to Neville and put a lead on him, Bee came right along. Turns out, she may even be our Scout — always watching, alert, and aware of everything. This week I had the honor of painting a Bible for a young woman dedicating her life to Christ — a gift from her parents to accompany her on the most important journey of all. Every Bible I paint is more than just art. I pray over each one, asking God to bless the hands that hold it, the eyes that read it, and the heart that carries His Word into the world. For this young woman, I prayed for her walk with Him to be steady and full of light. That she would be surrounded by people who will lift her up when she can’t walk alone, be her witnesses, her peace in the storm, and her light in the dark. It is humbling to know my artwork might sit in someone’s hands during their quiet moments with God, through their tears, joys, doubts, and praise. That is a privilege I don’t take lightly. Thank you to her family for trusting me with this part of her story. And thank you, Lord, for letting me use the gifts You gave me to glorify You and serve others in this way.
