February 21, 2025: Henley & Hormones
🐝 The Weekly Buzz with Bee! 🐝
Bee’s had another eventful week full of visits, treats (or lack thereof), and… a little bit of attitude! 😆💛
First up, Henley returned—this time with her momma, Jenna! 💕 But unlike last time, Henley decided sharing wasn’t on the menu. She happily munched on carrots while Bee watched with some serious side-eye. 🥕👀
Meanwhile, Sinjari gets a lot of attention from some other female visitors in the pasture… and let’s just say Bee is not amused. 😤
Speaking of introductions, Bee also met a Shetland pony this week, Rudy… and let’s just say it was NOT love at first sight. 🐎❌ (Video proof incoming! 🎥)
🐴 A Little Horse Science: Bee is currently in heat, which means her body is going through a natural cycle where she’s hormonally preparing for possible mating. Mares typically go into heat during warmer months, and during this time, they can be extra opinionated, moody, or protective of their space. This might explain why Bee wasn’t feeling friendly with Rudy the Shetland pony 🐎❌ and why she may have thrown a well-placed kick when another horse got too close. 😅 No harm done—just a bruised shoulder (maybe a bruised ego 😂) and a reminder that Bee is, indeed, the boss. 👑🐝
Before the Texas cold snap, I brought apples—but Bee refused to eat them. 🍏🙅♀️ Sinjari and Royce were happy to TRY to take them off my hands, though! Tuesday, Bee got brushed, went for a ride (still avoiding water! 😅), and bundled up for the cold by donning a blanket.
Miss Hayley, the barn manager, took great care of Bee this week by grooming her paddock so Bee didn't have to stand in water to be close to Sinjari.
That’s all the buzz for this week—can’t wait to see what she’s up to next! 🐝💛Stay tuned for next Friday’s buzz!
