December 26, 2025: Christmas at the Barn

Christmas looks a little different when you love a horse.

While our human families gather, travel, unwrap gifts, and slow down for a few days, the barn does not stop. Horses still need to be fed, checked, turned out, brought back in, and fed again. On Christmas morning. On Christmas night. In the cold, the wind, and whatever weather decides to show up.

This Christmas, I am especially thankful for the barn family who makes it possible for me to step away knowing Bee is cared for with consistency and kindness. Bee may be slightly less work since she lives out on pasture full time, but she still gets grain twice a day to make sure she receives all the nutrients and supplements she needs. There are no days off in horse care, and that responsibility is not taken lightly here.

Our incredible team, led by Lupe, Alexis, Chuy, and Juan, shows up every single day. Add to that the steady leadership of our barn manager, Lori, and her amazing assistant, Allyson, and it becomes very clear just how much heart goes into this place. These are the people who make sure the horses are safe, fed, and comfortable, even on holidays when most of the world is quiet.

That kind of dedication feels especially meaningful at Christmas.

This season always brings me back to the reason we celebrate at all. The birth of Jesus. A reminder of humility, service, and showing up for others, even when it is inconvenient, unseen, or simply part of what needs to be done. There is something very fitting about a holiday rooted in faith being spent grateful for people whose work is often behind the scenes but absolutely essential.

As we spend time with family this week, I am holding a deep sense of gratitude for two kinds of family. The one gathered around the table, and the one at the barn, making sure Bee and her herd are cared for with the same consistency and love, day in and day out.

The work does not stop. The animals still need us. And because of this incredible team, I can be present with my family, knowing Bee is exactly where she needs to be.

That is a Christmas gift I do not take for granted.

Wishing you a faith-filled Christmas, peace in your heart, and gratitude for the people who quietly show up for you, too.

Until next time,
Christina & Bee 🐝💛
